Dear Linda,
I did a FETAC course in Killarney last year, receiving BTEA and a grant. This year I got a place at the IT in Tralee. I know the grant is no more but I hoped to manage with the BTEA. Yesterday I received a letter from the dept of social protection (protection for who??) to say that my rate was cut by €90 a week. Now I can no longer afford to travel to Tralee and must drop out.The cut backs have started. I am nearly €800 poorer per month now compared to last year. If they had have informed me before hand I would not have bought all my books and other necessities for college.
kind regards,
Jannie Prins
